2015 Spring Game Draft Board: Top 25

Jourdan Lewis (#26) is my number
one overall pick this spring.
  1. Jourdan Lewis CB - One the team's best overall athletes, Lewis will help shut down a large chunk of real estate in most games this fall. He has the speed to chase down defenders from the opposite side of the field (see Utah) and he accounted for the only two INT's in the secondary. He did have some struggles but QB's began avoiding him somewhat in 2014 and might look to do more of that in 2015.
  2. Bryan Mone DT - Although Mone is definitely on the rise, I wouldn't necessarily say he is the second best player on the team...yet. This pick is all about strategy and projection at this point, because if I was starting a team from scratch I would want to bulk up the front line of defense to stop the run. I love everything about this guy and I have a very good feeling about him as we transition into the Harbaugh era. His presence alone could provide more room for other very talented defenders to run free.
  3. Jabrill Peppers DB - Breezy could be another shutdown defender to add to an already good defense. He can also return punts and would be the starter at running back if he were there. He could be used everywhere if needed. The only thing keeping him out of the top two of my draft board is the fact that he doesn't really have any experience. Lewis and Mone have proven themselves to be important brick and mortar-type of guys that you can build around.
  4. Mason Cole OL - O-line is important so it needs to be addressed early. Cole was the most consistent blocker as a freshman and he is everything you could ask for in a lineman. He is a savvy technician that can play all five positions, particularly left tackle and center. He possesses just enough athletic ability and strength to match up with any defender in any number of situations and just doesn't blatantly get beat by anybody very often. His biggest asset overall could be his coachability. He just has a knack for being able to perform the duties asked of him.
  5. Joe Bolden LB - This senior leader is a tackling machine who can occasionally make big plays. Bolden and Mone will be the base of a very good front seven.
  6. Willie Henry DT - Another stud up front to shut down running lanes and put pressure in the face of opposing QB's, Henry reminds me of a young Warren Sapp-type of short, stout, and active play-maker that can penetrate the backfield.
  7. Kyle Kalis OL - Implementing strategy again here, I would beef up my O-line more with Kalis based on the idea that he could be developing into an All-Big Ten player who can play both guard and tackle. He isn't there yet, but attempting to establish a sound wall of blockers up front is priority number one on offense.
  8. Chris Wormley DL - Wormley only slips down this far because it wouldn't make much sense to take four D-linemen in my top five picks. His combination of size, strength, raw talent, and versatility are unmatched by 99.5% of the entire college football world.
  9. Taco Charlton DE - Charlton's upside is huge and the doors have opened for him to become a big player on defense in 2015.
  10. Jake Butt TE - No matter who my quarterback is going to be he will need a big play-maker like Butt to look to when he is under pressure.
  11. Blake Countess CB - I don't care what anybody says, Countess is a solid defender and I am willing to bet he has a good year ahead of him in 2015.
  12. Amara Darboh WR - Darboh is primed for a real break-out season as the team's number one option on the perimeter. I expect about 70-80 catches this fall.
  13. Logan Tuley-Tillman OT - Appears to be a natural left tackle and could make Cole's transition over to center a very easy decision. At this point, LTT might be Michigan's best-kept-secret and I would reach for him a little to secure the left side.
  14. Shane Morris QB - Alright, you have to secure a QB sooner rather than later, and at this point I would go with the more experienced strong arm in Morris than I would over the freshman Malzone. Although, I have to admit the decision was tough.
  15. Ben Gedeon LB - Called "The Freak" by some, Gedeon has tremendous athletic ability and could play any 'backer position in a 4-3 or a 3-4.
  16. Jarrod Wilson S - More of a strong safety than a free, Wilson is a senior leader that will make a lot of tackles.
  17. Mario Ojemudia DE - Should be the team's best pass-rusher this season on a very good D-line.
  18. Derrick Green RB - At this point he is considered the starting running back and has all the makings of a very good between-the-tackles runner that can occasionally sneak out and catch balls out of the backfield.
  19. Ty Isaac RB - Isaac has a lot of potential too, and proved he could do some things in his fresman year at USC. He could be the starter or possibly combine with Green to provide a powerful 1-2 punch.
  20. Erik Magnusson OL - Another player on the front line that will be counted on to be a versatile leader going forward this year. He has been stationed at left guard most of his career but I could see him being a decent right tackle if needed as well.
  21. James Ross III LB - Has a ton of experience already and should be a team leader in 2015.
  22. Alex Malzone QB - More strategy being implemented here. If Morris struggles it would be great to have the young, smart, and confident freshman passer to relieve him. I guarantee you Malzone will know exactly where his helmet is in case his name gets called and, at the very least, we could see if he is truly capable of being a starter at this stage of his career.
  23. Drake Harris WR - It is a big toss-up as to who might be the true number two guy at receiver, but I would go with Harris in hopes of taking advantage of his athleticism.
  24. Desmond Morgan LB - Is one the most experienced players on the team and should be a real leader in his final season.
  25. Joe Kerridge FB - Kerridge is one of the hardest workers on the team and he will be the starting fullback once again this season.
Next in line:
  • Ben Braden OL
  • Ryan Glasgow DT
  • Jehu Chesson WR
  • Dymonte Thomas DB
  • Delano Hill S
  • Jeremy Clark DB
  • Mike McCray II
  • De'Veon Smith RB
  • Graham Glasgow
