Coaching Search Primer: Who are the top candidates to be UM's coach next year?

CFMB's Top Coaching Candidates: Brady Hoke Brady Hoke  (Current Michigan Head Coach) - Look, I know this is a tough sell, but the chances are not very good that UM could secure any of the other top candidates on this list so we might just be better off sticking with Hoke for one more year. Of course, he would have to win out the rest of the season in order for this to be a viable option. Many of us fans have said all along that nothing less than an 8-5 record is acceptable, and if he can salvage the season after all the train wrecks that have occurred along the way thus far then he probably deserves another shot. It cannot be understated how big wins in Columbus and in a bowl game would be for this argument. Most people think I am crazy, but until we lose a sixth game I am completely staying on board with the Hoke regime. Seriously, the dude has killed it on the recruiting trail and his guys are finally becoming upperclassmen. I could easily argue that we should at least wai

A Message to Fair-Weather Fans

As I peruse the comments following any recent UM football-related articles or social media sites, all I see are a bunch of fair-weather fans that don't have an ounce of gumption between them. If you don't think UM has even a remote chance of competing against Michigan State then do the team a favor and go jump ship. Maybe the Spartans or the Buckeyes will want you, but the Maize and Blue doesn't need you! Say what you want, but I believe the reality of the situation is a lot different than your perceived one. The truth is that UM's defense, which will be the best the Spartans have faced when they meet up next Saturday, is good enough to at least keep it close, and I am willing to bet my right eye that we won't see another negative-yard rushing performance like the one we witnessed last year. As for Gardner, I am completely comfortable with him starting the game and I believe he will be ready. If the O-line, which is the biggest question mark at this point due to
It is total bullshit that writers in the media and fans alike are making the claim that Michigan is "making the Big Ten look bad". I love the Wolverines, but I am really sick and tired of the media putting the entire perception of the conference on the shoulders of the Maize and Blue. The fact is that Notre Dame, Utah, Minnesota, and Rutgers were all underrated teams to start the season and time will only tell who the real players are on the national scene.  All I see is parity in the world of college football. For example, did anybody envision Indiana beating an SEC team that was in their respective conference championship game last December? Did anybody predict that Ole Miss, Mississippi State,Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, and Arizona would all be riding a perfect record heading into the midway point of the season? The answer is "NO!". The truth is that there are a lot of good teams out there and the rankings, once again, don't tell the entire tale of the tap

A Few Words for Wolverine Nation

Dear Fellow Fans, Friends, and Family, I just want it to be clear that I am backing coach Brady Hoke, his assistants, and the entire Wolverine football team until they lose a sixth game of the season. An 8-4 record (not including conference championship game or bowl game of course) would be very respectable, especially if you think it is downright unlikely at this point. A 7-5 finish wouldn't be that bad either if the team ended up having a nice bowl win. Personally, I am hoping for a 9-3 finish, but I do realize that would be a comeback of epic proportions for the program. An uphill battle to say the least. Whatever the case may be, if and when they lose that sixth game of the year, I will officially jump off the bandwagon and call for everybody's head. Until then, let the program try to finish what it started here. Let's at least not try to look so desperate! Losing streaks allow us to really find out who we are as a "Nation" and re-evaluate our priorities.
